Easter Chocolate Nests

Me and Evie had a go at making Easter chocolate nests last week and I think they turned out pretty well. They are really easy to make, perfect to do with the kids over the Easter holidays.

My mum used to make these for us every year when we were little, so they bring back childhood memories. Rather than googling how to make them, I asked my mum for the recipe and she pulled out a Sainsburys leaflet from 1996! She’s kept it for 20 years haha!

You’ll need:
  • 125g chocolate
  • 25g butter
  • 2 tablespoons clearΒ honey
  • 125g shredded wheat
  • 24 mini eggs
How to make them:
  • Crumble up your shredded wheat.
  • Melt your chocolate, butter and honey (I just did this in the microwave).
  • Mix together your chocolate mixture and your shredded wheat.
  • Press the mixture into a 12 hole cake/muffin tray. You can use cupcake cases if you like but I didn’t bother.
  • Pop them in the fridge for about an hours and then pop your mini eggs in them.

Easy peasy!

Thanks for reading.

I think I could substitute wheats with corn flakes? Since shreds wheats is not common in my place. Great idea anyway! πŸ˜€ thanks

Cornflakes would work just as well πŸ™‚ x

Oo these look good. I’m always up for easy baking ideas as baking with my three is never easy. We usually do rice crispies all the time so this makes a nice change especially for this weekend x

Definitely. Give them a try, they’re really good πŸ™‚

I used to love making these as a kid too! We used to use cornflakes as we didn’t have shredded wheat. Chocolate covered cereal and Mini Eggs, what’s not to love?! #bigpinklink

      Exactly! Delicious πŸ™‚

My mum has loads of old recipe leaflets too! I loved making these as a child, and I’m really getting into baking with my eldest (the youngest has to be asleep, it’s carnage if he joins in too!!) So I’m always on the lookout for recipes! From the pictures it looks like you had a great time doing these! Thanks so much for sharing with #bigpinklink!

My two are 3 and (almost) 5 and it’s still carnage when they both join in. Me and Evie had to sneakily do this while Max was at school #badmum
