Spooky Halloween Gingerbread Men

I first made these little guys a couple of Halloweens ago and they were a big hit and so fun to make, so I decided to have another go at them this year. These ones have turned out so much better than the last ones and I’m really pleased with them.

These happy little skeletons are super cute and perfect for younger children.

These ones are a bit on the gruesome side so probably not suitable for young children but would be perfect for older kids or even an adults halloween party.

Here’s how I made them…

What you’ll need
  • Greaseproof paper
  • Gingerbread man cutter
  • Writing icing (you can use any colours you like but obviously you’ll need white if you are attempting the skeletons)
  • Rolling pin

Makes around 20 gingerbread men, depending on the size of your cutters.

  • 350g plain flour
  • 100g butter
  • 5 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
  • 175g light brown soft sugar
  • 4 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 1 medium egg
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Mix together the flour, butter, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate soda with your fingertips until crumbly.
  3. Add the sugar, syrup and egg and mix until it forms a firm dough.
  4. Roll out your pastry to about 5mm thick and cut out your gingerbread men.
  5. Place your gingerbread men on greaseproof paper lined baking trays.
  6. Bake in the oven for around 15 minutes or until golden.
  7. Decorate with your writing icing.

Pin it for later

These look great. I love gingerbread men and made some spooky ones a couple of years ago too. I lost my recipe so might try these. Thanks for sharing x
