Bonfire Night is another highlight of the year for me. I’ve always enjoyed it but it’s even better since having the kids. They get so excited about the fireworks and it’s so lovely to see their happy little faces as they watch them.
Every year we go round to my mums for food, fireworks and sparklers. My mum always goes all out with food; sausages, jacket potatoes, parkin (if you don’t know what this is, google it), toffee apples, chestnuts, bonfire toffee, you name it she’s got it!
After we’ve eaten we head outside for fireworks and sparklers. We always laugh because my dad always seems to get the exact same cheap box of fireworks every single year, and every one looks just like this…
The kids love the fireworks anyway no matter how lame they might be! Sparklers never disappoint, you’re never to old to enjoy a sparkler or two are you? And despite the look on Evie’s face here, she was having fun, honestly!
We timed our drive home from my mums just right because as we pulled up the social club down the road were setting of their fireworks (which were ever so slightly better than my dads!) so we stood and watched those for a while.
I hope you all had a great Bonfire Night whatever you got up to.
Thanks for reading.

Ah it sounds like a lovely tradition! I had to google parkin – my goodness I need to make some of that now! x
We have the same tradition. We go to my parents house and my mum makes hot dogs and we have tomato soup in a mug. I love that we still go there with my girls and it reminds me of my childhood. x #theordinarymoments
I had to laugh at the part about your dad’s fireworks! You captured some lovely sparkler and firework shots. My eldest was a bit scared of the sparklers this year, but still loved having a go with them, fear and excitement all rolled into one! I would love my children to come back and celebrate things like this with us when they are adults with families like you do with your parents, sounds like a lovely night xx
Oh wow these are gorgeous photos of the fireworks, you need to give me some tips as mine always come out all blurry. I am glad you had a lovely bonfire night, it is such a fun time of year isn’t it? x
