MUST HAVE ITEMS FOR A CAMPING TRIP

camping

So you’re planning a camping trip but you’re not sure where to start with your packing list. Maybe you’re new to camping. Well, look no further! Here you’ll find everything you’ll need to ensure your camping holiday goes to plan. From absolute essential items, to the optional extras. Read on to find out more, including important details like tent hydrostatic head to keep you dry in case of rain.

Tent

Of course, it goes without saying that you will need a tent for your camping trip. But there are so many options, how do you know which one to choose? Firstly, you’ll need to establish the size of the tent you require, depending on how many people you’re camping with with. Tents range in price depending on the quality and additional features it offers. You should consider the conditions you will be camping in, ease of use, weight, material and even ventilation of the tent. There are some great resources online to help you with your decision.

Now sure, picking out a tent can be a lot of work, but what if you’re the type of person who wants to be out in nature, but you don’t want something as rustic as a tent or something as structured (and generic) like a hotel or cottage? Well, maybe the right middle ground would be a glamping experience. Sure, with some of them you can bring your own tent if you want to, but the beauty of glamping is, well, you’re usually sleeping in something that’s way better and more fun than just a regular camping tent!

Sleeping essentials

Once you’ve got your tent, the next thing to consider is your sleeping essentials. This could be as simple as sleeping bags, or you could opt for camp beds or even blow up beds. Air beds are a particularly good option as they deflate and fold up quite compact, so they are great for saving space when packing up your car. If you’re opting for sleeping bags on the ground you could consider a sleeping pad too to add extra comfort. And don’t forget your pillows, blankets and duvets! Sometimes it’s the most obvious things that people end up forgetting.

Furniture

You will likely want to take at least camping chairs with you on your trip, and possibly a table. A table is ideal for organising your food while you’re camping. You may also want to take an awning, shelter or gazebo. These come in handy if it’s sunny and even if it’s raining. They can also provide you with a little bit of privacy if you’re camping at a particularly busy site.

Cooking equipment

As well as food, you’ll need a way to cook and eat it! A camping stove is an absolute essential, as well as cutlery and utensils, pots, pans and plates. Don’t forget your gas or charcoal also or you won’t be able to get your stove going! How about a mini bottle opener? This one loops straight on to your keys so it’s there whenever you need it.

Other essentials

Lanterns and torches are a must for a camping trip, as you’ll need to be able to see where you’re going if you visit the toilet at night. Other things to consider would be a first aid kit, cleaning products, tent repair kit, insect repellant etc. The list goes on. Do a little research and make sure you create your own comprehensive packing list, that way you can reuse it each time you go camping and it will make packing so much easier.

Have you ever been on a camping trip? Is there anything else that you would add to this list?

Thank you for reading and happy camping!
